Intro 00:35
2.
Once I felt you walking by the kitchen light But when I saw you, you ran quickly out of sight What could I have done wrong? Should have whispered a song? I wonder, I wonder because I’m more afraid of myself than you Once you came as far as the corridor But at the threshold you were simply gone before Before I could ask you to stay Before I could even explain that I’m more afraid of myself than you It’s not fun in the dark With no one to hold on to What could I have done wrong? Should have whispered a song? I wonder, I wonder
3.
I’d hold a bible If it could keep the reins On your heart in the dark I hold a candle That will not blow out These flames that you allowed I hold your horses So they won’t run and bolt And break all that you uphold I hold a feeling That I cannot explain That you cannot contain It burns out screaming It burns out screaming I hold your horses Take turns but please don’t fold It takes all that you can hold I hold this feeling See now the whole host Sing my heart, let it go It burns out screaming It burns out screaming That stitch in time is fine To run free all our lives Knots and ties won’t hold us down All pumping hearts and cries Just jump outside the lines That locked us in our minds I hold your horses...

At the Track 03:33
My heart dreams when I open my eyes Blinded by invisible trials My heart bleeds when I close my mind Chasing hilarious lies You’ve never placed a bigger bet Now you’re lost at the track Of your own device You wage the weary choices And the people that you cling to With stakes so high As high as expectations fly They fly high... You can’t drop the pace now Or call it off You run for the finish line The race never stops You really ought to keep poised Why just lash out meaning to? Riding high on in betweens Fly on expectations that dive You can’t drop the pace now Or call it off You run for the finish line The race never stops…
5.
The Weight 03:55
I wish I could grow wings Every time the siren sings Even when I try to Taking flight is hard Every time the siren sings Walking down that street It’s not simple when we Blab and lie so you won’t stay And pray for wings to get away The siren sings... The weight of my world Is on your shoulders You didn’t know that I’d blind and drive you Out of my mind Tried to scratch you off The picture inside my head Tried to shake you free Of the hell inside my dread The siren sings The weight of my world Is on your shoulders You didn’t know that I’d blind and drive you Out of my mind Tried to scrape you off The picture inside my head Tried to shake you free Of the hell inside my dread Out of my mind...

7.
You talk ‘til I’m blue I don’t know where to turn To reach for air, to reach for truth Even if I poured your soul And made you pay You’d still find a way to say The things that sting, that crush Walk upon tightropes here May as well hang from them While I wade waters wide With knots slick and sly Lose my way Stuck in standby

'The Holding'
was produced by Jérémie 'Poulet' Mazan with Trevor O'Neill at a studio based at ‘Useless Pride’ Records in Toulouse, France. They also make t-shirts and sell hardcore records. Nice guys.
'The Holding'…or 'Holding Environment' is a concept that was developed by Donald Woods Winnicott (7 April 1896 – 28 January 1971) an English paediatrician and psychoanalyst.
“…fostering the ability to experience the body as the place wherein one securely lives. Extrapolating the concept of holding from mother to family and the outside world, key to healthy development "the continuation of reliable holding in terms of the ever-widening circle of family and school and social life"

This concept was very present during the recording of this album.
Special thanks:
To Laure, Enzo, Molly and Nils (for their love, patience and listening to the same guitar lines repeatedly without ever complaining),
To Kathy and Mathieu (for helping to cut the songs down to size),
To Andy (for his continual and ongoing support and for getting this album ‘out there’! via ‘Fabriq.fm’),
To Jérémie (for his implication, generosity and belief in the project),
To Lionel (for his photos and thoughts on conveying ‘The Holding’ concept visually)
And finally to Sébastien for ‘Standing Tall’ over these past few years as a strong and supportive collaborator.
